Centro de Treinamento e Apoio Missionário (CTAM) 2025 read blog

Centro de Treinamento e Apoio Missionário (CTAM) is a missionary training and support center that was established in 2015 in the city of Nova Granada, Brazil. Its focus is on church mobilization and missionary training. CTAM conducts training workshops in South American churches around topics such as global vision and evangelism. For missionaries the organization provides online, in-person, and field training as well as ongoing mentoring and care.

In particular, CTAM desires to engage unreached people groups in the Amazon, including the 10,000 riverbank communities in Brazil. In addition to evangelism, CTAM’s aim is to plant churches and prepare and equip local Christians to lead them. CTAM’s current focus is on the island of Marajó in northern Brazil where the primary language is Portuguese. Sexual abuse and sex trafficking are rampant on the island. Marajó is now a site for CTAM’s cross-cultural missions training. Additionally, CTAM conducts outreach events in São José, a previously unreached riverbank community of about 500 on Marajó. São José can only be reached only by boat, and the trip takes 6-7 hours. Missionaries attempt to visit twice a month. Tiago’s goal is to establish an advanced training center in Marajó focused on practical training for cross-cultural missions.

Tiago Medeiros who is CTAM’s executive director, has worked alongside his parents, Carlos and Mara Medeiros, since its founding. His roles include serving as the training coordinator for the discipleship mission school and field consultant in Marajó. Additionally, he pastors a small local church based in the CTAM campus. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and English and received a Bachelor of Theology degree from Horizontes America Latina. He is married to Barbara, who works as a pharmacist, and they have two children.

Please pray for wisdom and grace for CTAM staff as they leverage technology to develop ministry thrusts and training curricula in line with current and future needs in Brazil. Pray also for CTAM’s vison to bring the Gospel to unreached people groups in Brazil.
